Angelica Root Tail (Dang Gui Wei) - Functionalities and Benefits for Pets
Angelica root tail, otherwise known as Dang Gui Wei, has a long history of being used in traditional Chinese and western medicine for thousands of years. The plant typically grows in the cooler climate of the high altitude mountains in China, Japan, and Korea.
Belonging to the Apiaceae family, it is related to carrots, celery, parsley, and lots of aromatic seed plants such as dill, caraway, cumin, anise, and fennel. While its cousin, commonly known as “wild celery” is often used in culinary applications in European countries, as the name implies, only the roots of angelica root tail is used.
The yellowish-brown root of the plant is harvested and then dried to be more easily incorporated into herbal medicines.
